

Lest you should think that nature is anything but chaos . . .
It rained a lot. the trees were heavy with water, and the birds and the brook and the rain from the sky and the trees combined their sounds. |



But books were read, and hikes were hiked, and the deep magic of the old world made its mark again. What happens in those dark northeastern woods bears no relationship to what happens in the west, in Patagonia, in Europe.
I tried to present these in color, but the northeastern woods would not allow it.
